How could you Cappy? Those poor people have had a child stolen from them. Don't you think that they don't feel guilty enough without crass comments like yours. They will have to live with the guilt of leaving their children in bed for the rest of their lives. Leave them alone.

i apologise, as i didn't think that it would cause so much offense. each to everyones own opinion...mine personally, they have had more to do with this than "having a child stolen"

they have escaped charges in portugal. how?
as a mother, mrs ron, would you have ever left ron alone while you went out for a meal? no, didn't think so.
they will have to live with it?
in MY view, this couple, both proffesionals remember, have still a lot to answer for.

anon: stand up, be counted, leave your name.

As it happens I have left three young children (Ron being one of them) in bed asleep whilst going down to dinner in an hotel in the Lake District. Just like at home but in a public place. I was lucky, nothing happened to them. It's all very well having hindesight after the event. I believed my children would be safe and so did the McCann's. The culprit in all of this is the bastard who stole Maddie.

so you're not of the opinion that they had anything to do with it?
i can't make my mind up.
they weren't the first, as niether were you, and i doubt they'll be the last, but in the world we live in today, it's not a risk my wife or me would take.

No I don't believe the McCann's had anything to do with their child's disappearance. They wouldn't spend all that money and 14 months trying to find her if they had disposed of her themselves. I feel so so sorry for them because I know as a parent they will blame themselves for leaving ther children and in these recent years I wouldn't leave a child of mine, but you should be able to put your children to bed and expect them to be safe - bar fire or flood - Years ago in Butlin's holiday camps they had a listening service for parents were you put your kids to bed and a member of staff would go round the chalets listening for children crying then they would put out an address over the tannoy system saying baby crying in chalet number 6. My parents used it for my siblings and me, I was the same age as Maddie,. so they could go to the bar in the evening and have a drink. Nobody thought it was wrong to do that then, I wish it was the same now, God help us

"I wish it was the same now, God help us"

god help us indeed. society is so screwed up now.
the fact is too, that anyone seeing her "being abducted" probably wouldn't have dared help anyway. well they wouldn't get involved in the uk these days.
you stand more of a chance of a beating from stepping up, that it's suddenly easier to walk by.

shameful. thats what it is.
